Dear Hyeri kdrama – Episode 4 Recap and Spoilers.

Episode 4 of the Genie TV Original Dear Hyeri, which aired on the 1st, recorded a viewer rating of 2.4% (Nielsen Korea), setting a new record for the series. Dear Hyeri began with a viewer rating of 2.0% for Episode 1 and recorded 2.2% for Episodes 2 and 3. The show is demonstrating a slight but steady upward trend as it continues to receive positive reviews.

Additionally, Dear Hyeri ranked 4th in TV-OTT drama buzz for the fourth week of September (Good Data Corporation), with Shin Hae-sun and Lee Jin-wook ranked 5th and 8th, respectively, in cast buzz.

Dear Hyeri is a romance drama that follows Eun-ho (Shin Hae-sun), an announcer with a dual personality named Hye-ri, and her ex-boyfriend Hyun-oh (Lee Jin-wook) as they heal the wounds they have hidden in their hearts. Shin Hae-sun skillfully portrayed the contrast between Eun-ho, an unknown announcer with 14 years of experience, and Hye-ri, a part-time worker at a parking lot management office, earning favorable reviews for her performance. She successfully established the charm of both characters by making distinct choices in speech, gestures, and pronunciation.

Shin Hae-sun’s dual personality also leads to two romantic storylines. Her true self, Eun-ho, is the star of the announcer department and the most popular announcer, Hyun-oh, while Hye-ri develops a romance with the pure-hearted single announcer, Ju-yeon (Kang Hoon). Notably, the elevator kiss scene between Shin Hae-sun and Lee Jin-wook at the end of Episode 4 sparked considerable discussion, resulting in a significant increase in viewership ratings among female viewers aged 30 to 40. As Hye-ri grows closer to Kang Hoon, the excitement level intensifies with the intersecting romances.

In Episode 4, Eun-ho is startled by Hyun-oh’s voice calling her next to Ju-yeon and runs away. She hides in the bathroom, where her reflection in the mirror and her memories of living as Hye-ri become intertwined, leading her to break the mirror and pass out. Later, Hye-ri meets with a psychiatrist (Ahn So-yo) and insists, “I am much happier now than the Eun-ho in my dreams,” refusing to let go of her personality.

Eun-ho gradually breaks down upon realizing Hye-ri’s existence. She grapples with the pain of her younger sister Hye-ri’s disappearance during her college days, which prompted her to revive Hye-ri as a part of her own identity. While attending a workshop for the ‘Issue In’ team, Eun-ho discovers a forest nearby where Hye-ri went missing, causing her emotions to spiral. She goes on a live broadcast in an unstable state and panics, experiencing hyperventilation.

Hyun-oh calms Eun-ho and comforts her, allowing them to successfully conclude the live broadcast. Afterward, Hyun-oh takes Eun-ho’s hand and leads her to the elevator, where they share a tender kiss. Initially portraying a bitter “disgusting” relationship typical of former lovers, Eun-ho and Hyun-oh are developing a heartbreaking romance as they peel away layers of their painful history.

The positive buzz surrounding Dear Hyeri continues, with viewers praising it as “a drama you think about even when it’s boring,” noting that “Shin Hae-sun immerses herself in each role and scene, making the drama shine,” and expressing excitement for each new episode.
