Disney+ ups their KDrama game for the remainder of 2024 to 2025

Disney+ 2024 Ending and 2025 Coming Soon

Disney+, renowned worldwide for its impressive content, is preparing to launch a series of blockbuster hits. As a premier global streaming service celebrated for its original storytelling, compelling narratives, and sophisticated visuals, Disney+ is making waves this year with a lineup of exclusive Korean content that is only available on its platform.

Following the global success of Korean series like A Shop for Killers, Blood Free, Moving, and The Tyrant, which have captivated audiences with their fresh material and strong storytelling, Disney+ has continued to dominate the entertainment scene with The Zone Season 3 and Are You Sure?!. The service is now gearing up for an impressive array of new releases spanning various genres for the remainder of this year and into next.

Disney+ Korean originals have already made a significant impact. A Shop for Killers became the most-watched local original series on Disney+ in the Asia-Pacific region in 2024. The Tyrant, a thrilling chase action series, has remained the top-viewed show on Disney+ Korea since its release. Additionally, Are You Sure?!, featuring BTS members Jimin and Jungkook on an unpredictable travel adventure, has become the most-watched non-drama on Disney+ in the Asia-Pacific region.

Choi Yeon-woo, head of local content at The Walt Disney Company Korea, commented, “Although Disney+ has been in Korea for less than three years, its presence in the Korean content market has grown steadily through local original content.” He added, “In the latter half of this year and into 2025, we will continue to showcase blockbuster content that highlights Disney+’s storytelling prowess, high production values, and genre diversity, appealing to both domestic and international audiences.”

Upcoming releases include the comic action investigative drama Seoul Busters, the chase crime drama Gangnam B-side, and Kang Full’s next project Light Shop, slated for the second half of 2024. For 2025, Disney+ will offer a stellar lineup with Trigger, Hyper Knife, Knock Off, Nine Puzzle, Low Life, Tempest, and Made in Korea, featuring top-tier casts and unique stories.

Seoul Busters, with its fresh and humorous take on the violent crimes unit, features Kim Dong-wook’s standout performance and is now available on Disney+. In contrast, Trigger, set for 2025, promises an engaging villain hunt within an investigative journalism program. Kim Hye-soo, Jung Sung-il, and Joo Jong-hyuk are set to captivate audiences with their compelling performances.

The Disney+ original crime and mystery series slated for late 2024 and 2025 will also deliver gripping drama and intense immersion. Gangnam B-side, a chase crime drama set in Gangnam, and Lighting Store, the much-anticipated second collaboration between Kang Full and Disney+, are among the highlights. Light Shop will see Kim Hee-won making his directorial debut, featuring a strong cast including Joo Ji-hoon and Park Bo-young.

In 2025, Hyper Knife will present a unique medical thriller with Park Eun-bin and Seol Kyung-gu, while Nine Puzzle, a mystery thriller starring Kim Da-mi and Son Seok-gu, will delve into a serial murder case. Knockoff, featuring Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah, and Tempest, with Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won, promise riveting narratives and impressive performances. Low Life, a historical drama based on a webtoon, will showcase top actors in a tale of treasure and greed.

The highly anticipated film Made in Korea, set in the turbulent 1970s and starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, will also premiere on Disney+. Additionally, Disney+ will release notable domestic films such as Judge from Hell, starring Park Shin-hye and Kim Jae-young, and Jeongnyeon, featuring Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, and Ra Mi-ran.

Disney+, staying true to the Walt Disney Company’s legacy of creating memorable and beloved stories, is set to showcase its storytelling strength in the latter half of this year and throughout 2025.
