Sometimes K-Pop idols make mistakes. They’re only human, after all, and with how much constant attention they get being in the spotlight, it’s nearly impossible to hide when such things happen. Sometimes they do deserve some criticism for what they do, and can hopefully learn from their mistakes so that fans can let things go. However, sometimes fans just won’t let things go, or even more unfairly, hate on K-Pop idols for seemingly no reason. There are some idols in the industry that get more hate, whether deserved or not, than others, and here is a list of 10 of them and the reasons (whether sensical or not) that they get it.
1. Jennie (BLACKPINK)
Between so-called “bad attitude”, scandals, and the “lazy dancing” controversy, Jennie has become one of the most criticized idols in the industry, though a lot of her (and the rest of BLACKPINK’s) hate likely just stems from their popularity.
2. Soyeon ((G)I-DLE)
Most of Soyeon’s criticism comes from people accusing her of cultural appropriation in (G)I-DLE’s music, which is a controversial topic.
3. Jungkook, V, and Jimin (BTS)
For some reason the maknae line of BTS gets more hate than the rest of the members, and it’s unclear of the real reason why, probably because it’s mostly just nonsensical criticism.
4. Eunwoo (ASTRO)
Eunwoo gets undeserved hate for being the most popular member of ASTRO by far due to his good looks, which is something he has no control over.
5. Nancy (MOMOLAND)
When Nancy was in her early teens, she made a joke about eating disorders, which did leave a bad taste in people’s mouths. Hopefully now that she’s older she understands why it was wrong and people can forgive her for it.
6. Kai (EXO)
Kai has had a couple of dating scandals (with f(x)’s Krystal and BLACKPINK’s Jennie), which have unfairly soured some people views of him.
7. Tzuyu (TWICE)
Tzuyu is criticized the most heavily in TWICE for being the visual and not having the best vocals or lacking emotion on stage, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a talented idol anyway and isn’t just there for her good looks.
8. Yeri (Red Velvet)
Even though Yeri has been in the group for years now, some people are angry that she was added into Red Velvet later than the other members and call her talentless or undeserving, which isn’t fair to her.
9. Sakura (IZ*ONE)
Some fans think that Sakura received too much screen-time and favoritism while on Produce 48 compared to the other girls on the show, but even if that is true, it isn’t her fault.
10. IU
People began to look at her poorly after her scandal with Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk, and then later on, fans of BTS’s Jungkook began to dislike her simply because he described her as his ideal type.
