Hwang Jung-min, Yeom Jung-ah are spying spouses in film teaser
by Jenzy
The teaser for Netflix’s upcoming spy movie Mission: Cross has dropped, introducing us to our Mr. and Mrs. Smith duo as they navigate domestic life and closeted espionage.
The teaser opens by introducing us to secret agent Park Kang-mu, played by Hwang Jung-min (Narco-Saints). Although he is a highly skilled agent, after an issue arises on a mission, he is ordered to return to civilian life. Cutting to present day, Kang-mu is now a homemaker, chopping an onion with assassin-level precision as he prepares breakfast for his wife Kang Mi-sun, played by Yeom Jung-ah (Cleaning Up).

While Jung-ah is unaware of Kang-mu’s past, she’s well acquainted with the world of espionage, being a violent crimes detective herself. Nicknamed “the crocodile” by her colleagues, she’s rarely let a criminal slip through her fingers. So even though Kang-mu is no weakling, it’s not surprising to see him tiptoe around his wife — I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side either.
But things get messy when one day Kang-mu is asked for help on a case from his former spy colleague Jang Hee-joo, played by Jeon Hye-jin (Not Others). Despite his attempts to be discrete with his help, his excursions don’t go unnoticed by Jung-ah, who immediately suspects her husband is having an affair.
To make matters even messier, Jung-ah also gets assigned to Kang-mu’s case, which culminates in her getting tied to a chair by threatening baddies. They inch a blade dangerously closer to her face — until Kang-mu drives his car through a wall and saves his wife, to her utter shock.
With Kang-mu’s identity now out in the open, the couple will have to learn to work together to take down baddies. The teaser ends on the two of them taking a moment to hold hands and look into each other’s eyes before jumping into a shootout. Awwww, it is till death do us part, after all.
Written and directed by Lee Myung-hoon, Mission: Cross will premiere August 9 on Netflix.
