“Backstreet Rookie” has released an entertaining new teaser which was shared by Ji Chang Wook on his Instagram account.
Based on a hit webtoon, “Backstreet Rookie” is a romantic comedy about the unpredictable love story between convenience store owner Choi Dae Hyun (played by Ji Chang Wook) and part-time employee Jung Saet Byul (played by Kim Yoo Jung).
The newly released teaser begins by introducing its protagonists in hilarious fashion. The uncontrollable, “200 percent wild” Jung Saet Byul proves she’s not afraid of a fight, swearing at some delinquent high school students before racing towards them with a fierce look in her eye. As she keeps the action going by taking down some men in a fight, the tough part-time employee tells Choi Dae Hyun in voice-over, “To you, the convenience store is your life and your family’s source of income, but I have nothing to lose and nothing to fear.”
Meanwhile, the mild-mannered, “200 percent clumsy” Choi Dae Hyun tells Jung Saet Byul, “I don’t think our personalities go well together.” Although he continues to appear frustrated by Jung Saet Byul’s antics, like when he catches her attempting to speak to him in informal language (banmal), he ultimately seems unable to resist her charms. The teaser ends on a cliffhanger, with Jung Saet Byul leaning in for a kiss as Choi Dae Hyun stares at her in surprise.
“Backstreet Rookie” will premiere on June 12 at 10 p.m. KST.
