The zookeepers were in a difficult position. After all, when a living dinosaur is in your care, you have to do your best to make sure he thrives! With that in mind, they special ordered polypterus fish from Africa, which is where the shoebill is from.

The fish, which cost roughly $200 USD each, appeared to entice the shoebill as he drooled just ever so slightly.

Because shoebills are hunters, they have a specific method in which they catch their food, which is that they wait until their prey comes up for air before striking.
