Love Next Door kdrama – Episode 12 Recap and Spoilers.

On the 12th episode of tvN weekend drama Love Next Door, which aired on the 22nd, the love story between Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min) took a significant turn.

After kissing, the two were a bit awkward. Seok-ryu asked, “What’s our relationship?” Seung-hyo responded, “We’re dating after the kiss.” He then took care of Seok-ryu as she followed him to Gangwon-do. Under the night sky, he reminisced about their 30 years together, saying, “I’ve never tired of you,” emphasizing their unbroken bond.

Seok-ryu, weighed down by her past, remarked, “After all that suffering, how can I still be happy? Didn’t I say I’m a femme fatale?” Exhausted, she leaned on Seung-hyo’s shoulder and fell asleep.

When they shared their relationship news with Jeong Mo-eum (Kim Ji-eun), she expressed her relief: “I thought I was going to die of frustration. Everyone watching must have felt the same.” She acknowledged that they had always unconsciously liked each other. Seung-hyo felt ready to share their relationship with family and friends, but Seok-ryu wanted to keep it a secret, saying, “It’s burdensome. You never know what can happen.”

Respecting her wishes, Seung-hyo agreed to keep their relationship under wraps. However, when he noticed his junior at work, Lee Na-yoon (Shim So-young), hanging up on Seok-ryu’s call, he made it clear, “There’s someone I like. I don’t want to complicate things for her.”

As Seung-hyo began to pull away, Seok-ryu felt a pang of disappointment and jealousy, especially upon seeing him interact with his ex-girlfriend Jang Tae-hee (Seo Ji-hye). Upset that Seung-hyo hadn’t shared more about their relationship, she brought up their pasts, leading to a heated argument.

Moeum advised Seok-ryu against dwelling on the past, but she confessed, “I’m jealous. What can I do when my heart doesn’t cooperate?” Seung-hyo revealed that he had built a cat house for the stray Seok-ryu rescued, saying, “I wanted you to be happy.”

After a fight sparked by Tae-hee, they apologized to each other. Seung-hyo admitted, “It’s uncomfortable knowing each other’s love history,” and reassured her, “I’m glad you were jealous. Let’s not fight; it makes me feel bad.”

Seok-ryu expressed her frustration, saying, “You don’t seem interested. You act worse than before we started dating.” Seung-hyo explained, “I was so nervous. My mind went blank.” Yet, he insisted that his focus was always on her, whether they were at the movies or walking down the street.

“I thought dating you would change how I see you,” he told Seok-ryu. “It’s the opposite. I like you so much, I don’t know how to treat you.” He confessed, “When I’m in your room, I have these thoughts—thoughts I shouldn’t have.”

Seok-ryu gave him the go-ahead, saying, “You can do it. Bad thoughts. You can do bad things.” After sharing a deep kiss, they laid down together, turning off the lights, taking a step from childhood love into a more adult relationship.
