Love Next Door kdrama – Episode 13 Recap and Spoilers.
Episode 13 of the tvN Sat-Sun drama Love Next Door, which aired on the 28th, depicted a scene where Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min) confessed their true feelings to each other after experiencing a thrilling and exciting secret love affair.
The morning after Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu spent a romantic night together, their dreamlike happiness was shattered by the unexpected return of Na Mi-sook (Park Ji-young) and Bae Geun-sik (Jo Han-chul), who had gone on a trip with Choi Seung-hyo’s family. Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu narrowly avoided a crisis but had an uncomfortable meal with both families.
Meanwhile, Na Mi-sook and Seo Hye-sook (Jang Young-nam) made a “matchmaking resolution,” stating they would find suitable marriage partners for their sons and daughters. The two exchanged embarrassment and insults. After a morning of tension, Choi Seung-hyo decided he needed to tell the truth, but Bae Seok-ryu persuaded him that they needed to maintain a healthy and proper relationship under their parents’ watch, vowing to keep their secret.
As a result, the two continued their secret love affair, sneaking around between home and office. During a late-night date in the kitchen of Atelier, under the pretext of studying Bae Seok-ryu’s recipe, Yoon Myung-woo (Jeon Seok-ho) barged in. While walking with a bouquet of flowers he received from Choi Seung-hyo, he unexpectedly encountered Bae Dong-jin (Lee Seung-hyeop) and Lee Na-yoon (Sim So-young).
Bae Seok-ryu passed the Korean cuisine chef exam he had been preparing for. After he shared the news with Choi Seung-hyo, they cautiously met at a local playground. At that moment, Bae Seok-ryu forgot about who might see him and hugged Choi Seung-hyo tightly, sharing their joy. However, this moment was fleeting, and Bae Seok-ryu soon lost his self-esteem again after being rejected by multiple restaurants.
On the other hand, Choi Seung-hyo received the prestigious title of ‘Architect of the Year.’ He invited Bae Seok-ryu to accompany him to the ‘Architect’s Night’ awards ceremony. However, Bae Seok-ryu had to decline due to his own circumstances. Choi Seung-hyo hid his disappointment and respected his decision, but he couldn’t ignore Bae Seok-ryu’s apparent worries about studying cooking abroad.
It was then that Bae Seok-ryu revealed he had been rejected by all the places he had applied to, saying, “I didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of you. I wanted to stand tall and proud.” No words from Choi Seung-hyo could comfort him, and he requested some time alone, adding, “I guess love can’t feed me.”
Choi Seung-hyo waited, holding back his desire to see or contact Bae Seok-ryu. In the meantime, Bae Seok-ryu realized through a conversation with his younger brother, Bae Dong-jin, that he had also ruined his relationship with Choi Seung-hyo because of his “inferiority complex.” However, the timing between them was frustrating. Just as Bae Seok-ryu’s phone rang, Choi Seung-hyo encountered an unexpected accident.
Bae Seok-ryu rushed to the emergency room in tears and shouted, “I love you!” as soon as he saw Choi Seung-hyo. Choi Seung-hyo, filled with a mix of happiness and surprise at the sudden confession, hugged Bae Seok-ryu and declared, “I love you so much that it’s frustrating I can’t find the best way to express it.”
On this day, Jeong Mo-eum (Kim Ji-eun) and Kang Dan-ho (Yoon Ji-on) also reached a critical turning point. After Kang Dan-ho rejected Jeong Mo-eum’s confession, they met by chance at a memorial hall. There, Jeong Mo-eum learned a new secret about Kang Dan-ho: Kang Yeon-du (Sim Ji-yu) was not his daughter but his niece. In the accident that Kang Yeon-du had miraculously survived, he lost his parents, brother, and wife. Kang Dan-ho again pushed Jeong Mo-eum away, asking, “Should I hug you?” as he sought to comfort her.
However, on his way to pick up Jeong Mo-eum, who was drunk, he confessed his feelings for her in front of Do Jae-sook (Kim Geum-soon). “I tried to break it off somehow, but I don’t think it can be done anymore,” he admitted, and his sincerity ignited excitement and curiosity about the evolving relationships between Jeong Mo-eum, her daughter, Kang Dan-ho, and his daughter.
