According to their agency DR Music, Black Swan successfully released their album ‘Goodbye Rania’ through various music sites at 6 PM KST on the 16th of October 2020. The pop-dance style title song ‘Tonight’ was produced by famous overseas composers Melanie Fontana and Michelle Lindgren Schulz. However, the album did not chart on any music charts whatsoever even after a week of their debut and sold a total of 14 copies on the first day of their debut, according to the Hanteo charts of South Korea. The group also did not promote any music shows, which was likely why they did not get enough promotion to be able to sell more copies. A follow up was made to the information by saying that since no prior information of sales was available, it is most likely that they only sold 14 copies in all and not just on the first day of album sales. The company has not provided accurate information about album sales, and fans speculate this number of “14 albums” from the general public’s information from chart websites, etc. Either way, fans are quite disappointed at the number and hope that they do not get discouraged by this.
The girl group Black Swan is made up of five members, including Hyeme (Korea) from the girl group RaNia, Youngheun (Korea), also a former member of RaNia, Fatou (Belgium), Judy (Korea), and Leia (Brazil).
Youngheun is the leader, lead vocalist, and main dancer of the group. She is a former member of Stellar, and on August 28, 2019, Youngheun was revealed to be a new member of RaNia. Fatou was born in Yoff, Senegal, and on July 3, 2020, Fatou was revealed to be a member of Black Swan. She is the main rapper and main dancer of the group. She can speak English, French, German, Dutch, and Korean.
Hyeme is the main vocalist of the group. She joined RaNia at the end of 2014 and made her official debut in 2015. She stayed with the group from 2015 until the disbanding in 2020. Judy is the vocalist, visual, and lead dancer of the group. She was also a part of the 1MILLION dance crew before this. Leia is the vocalist, lead rapper, and maknae of the group. Her mother is Brazilian, and her father is Japanese. On August 28, 2019, she was a new member of RaNia, under Larissa’s stage name. On July 3, 2020, she was revealed to be a member of Black Swan.
The agency explained that they have the ability to speak various languages such as Korean, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, and French and thus will be able to become global ambassadors of K-Pop. Brazilian member Leah said, “It’s like a dream to debut as a member of the first Brazilian K-pop girl group. The ultimate goal is to become the best in the world like the BTS seniors.”
They were also commissioned as ambassadors for Pyeongchang-gun in July, before their official debut.
