Coupang Play announced that the rom-com Cinderella at 2AM has been added to 2024’s lineup, slated to release later this year on both Coupang Play and JTBC. Putting a spin on the well known fairytale, the webnovel/webtoon adaptation will have Shin Hyun-bin (Tell Me That You Love Me) refusing to become Cinderella when she discovers boyfriend Moon Sang-min (Wedding Impossible) is a chaebol – opting to break up and take that fat money envelope from chaebol mom. Perfect Family is reportedly headed to MBN and is currently in talks to potentially air in May or June. Starring Park Joo-hyun (The Forbidden Marriage), Yoon Se-ah (Sweet Home 2), and Kim Byung-chul (Doctor Cha) among other talents, the mystery series has already completed filming with Japanese filmmaker Yukisada Isao (The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese) at the helm. In the meantime, Lee Je-hoon (Taxi Driver 2) has packed his bags and is ready to go as MBC’s Chief Detective 1958. With Lee taking on the title role previously played by veteran actor Choi Bool-am (Goodbye to Goodbye), the latest teasers (found here and here) once again pay homage to the much celebrated original series. Also starring Lee Dong-hwi (Big Bet), Choi Woo-sung (Melancholia), and Yoon Hyun-soo (A Good Day to Be a Dog), the crime-action’s new prequel will be coming to our screens on April 19. [MBC (1), (2)]
Speaking of MBC classics, a remake is in the works for the 1994 drama M, a horror-mystery that still haunts me because apparently I was old enough to watch it at age seven (thanks Mom). Currently called M – Reboot, production for the new series is in the early stages, with an offer out to Park Ji-hyun (Flex x Cop) to play a leading role. [Sports Kyunghyang]
Bae In-hyuk (The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract) may be returning to Joseon (again) for the new historical fiction Check-in Hanyang, which also has Kim Ji-eun (Branding in Seongsu) in talks for the central character. In a coming-of-age story about growth and love, the story follows a group of four young adults upon their meeting at a guest house. [Newsen]
A new group poster has been charted for Disney+’s Blood Free, showcasing leads, Joo Ji-hoon (Jirisan), Han Hyo-joo (Moving), Lee Hee-joon (A Killer Paradox) , and Lee Moo-saeng (Hide).
