Perfect Family kdrama – Episode 12 Recap and Spoilers.
KBS 2TV’s Wednesday-Thursday drama “Perfect Family” concluded on the 19th, wrapping up its gripping mystery thriller about a seemingly idyllic family that becomes engulfed in suspicion following the murder of their daughter’s friend.
After the kidnapping, the life of Sun-hee (Park Ju-hyun) had returned to some semblance of normalcy, is upended by the unexpected reappearance of the missing Hyun-min (Yoon Sang-hyun). He proposes a fresh start, emphasizing his role as her biological father.
To celebrate, Sun-hee organizes a special event for Jin-hyeok (Kim Byung-chul) and Eun-ju (Yoon Se-ah), enlisting the help of her friend Ji Hyun-woo (Lee Si-woo). In an effort to support Sun-hee through her turmoil, Hyun-woo tries to maintain a cheerful demeanor. Sun-hee expresses her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for everything.” She invites Jin-hyeok and Eun-ju to their fire-damaged home, where she serves them a meal she prepared herself. Although Jin-hyeok notices Sun-hee’s trembling hands as she serves seaweed soup, he tries to keep his unease at bay.
As Jin-hyeok and Eun-ju succumb to sleeping pills, Hyun-min, who has been lurking in the shadows, makes his entrance. With a chilling smile, he commends Sun-hee, saying, “Doesn’t the medicine I gave you work wonders? You are my daughter, after all.”
In a moment of anger while attempting to open a safe with Sun-hee’s birthday as passcode, Hyun-min consumes an entire bottle of celebratory liquor. The alcohol triggers memories, allowing him to access the safe and retrieve a large sum of cash. He taunts Sun-hee with the money, claiming, “If I had money, I could be a good father.” However, overwhelmed by the weight of his emotions, he suddenly collapses.
Sun-hee, revealing her own secret, admits to having mixed ground peanuts into the liquor, knowing her father had a peanut allergy. As he quietly dies before her, she loses her last shred of trust in him, plunging into despair. In a tragic turn, Sun-hee consumes the same liquor, triggering an allergic reaction. Detective Shin Dong-ho (Kim Do-hyun), who arrives after Hyun-woo’s report, is stunned to find all four individuals collapsed together.
Fortunately, Sun-hee survives and promptly decides to study abroad in Canada. Three years later, her absence leaves Choi Jin-hyeok and Ha Eun-joo in a state of anxiety as they await her return.
While preparing a meal, Eun-joo senses Sun-hee’s presence and rushes outside with Jin-hyeok, finding her after years of silence. Tearfully, Sun-hee confesses, “I left because I felt guilty, but I missed you both so much.”
Eun-joo opens up, saying, “We want to be a family with you.” Jin-hyeok then asks, “Though we may be imperfect parents, will you be our daughter?” This heartfelt invitation prompts Sun-hee to ask, “Can I truly live as your daughter?” Overwhelmed by their unwavering love, she embraces the family life she has longed for, finally reclaiming the happiness she thought lost.
That concludes this drama. THE END.
