Shin Hyun-bin was overcome with tears upon learning of her abusive mother’s death. In episode 7 of Channel A’s Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Cinderella at 2AM’ which aired on the 14th, Yoon-seo (played by Shin Hyun-bin) broke down in Joo-won’s (played by Moon Sang-min) arms upon receiving the news of her mother’s (Baek Ji-won) death. This poignant moment tugged at viewers’ heartstrings.
Joo-won, witnessing Yoon-seo’s emotional moment with Seong-min (played by Lee Hyun-woo), decided to take a different approach. Influenced by Si-won (played by Yoon Park), he chose to act coldly toward Yoon-seo to sway her feelings. He relocated his office and began to criticize Yoon-seo’s opinions and treat her harshly, which sparked feelings of jealousy. His close interactions with his sister-in-law Mi-jin (played by Park So-jin) also stirred Yoon-seo’s emotions.
Despite his harsh demeanor, Joo-won struggled to maintain his “bad boy” persona. As Yoon-seo’s birthday approached, he attempted to contact her to make amends, but his efforts were in vain.
On her birthday, Yoon-seo found herself reflecting on Joo-won, the only person who had told her, “Thank you for being born.” Her attempt to reconcile her feelings was shattered by the news of her mother’s death. Her father, who had been abusive towards Yoon-seo and her younger brother Ji-seok (played by Kim Tae-jung) in their youth, and her mother, who had been passive during these times, left Yoon-seo isolated. Her only family now was her younger brother. Yoon-seo, who had severed ties with her mother and avoided attending her father’s funeral, found herself conflicted by her mother’s death.
Despite her deep-seated resentment toward her mother, Yoon-seo struggled with the emotional impact of her passing. She initially resolved to attend the funeral but was deterred by gossip about her absence.
In a dramatic turn, Yoon-seo received a call from Ji-seok and rushed to the funeral home, where she encountered Joo-won. In a moment of vulnerability, she broke down in front of him. Overcome with grief and letting go of all she had been holding back, Yoon-seo wept in Joo-won’s arms.
