Earlier this month, SM Entertainment revealed that a new album was going to be released by NCT. Fans immediately speculated that NCT 2020 must be in the works. This was certainly confirmed by SM when they announced NCT 2020. Like NCT 18 back in the year 2018, NCT 2020 is also going to be a large scale project where all the members of NCT come together to create an album on a magnanimous scale.
This time, all the subunits, including NCT 127, NCT DREAM, AND WAYV, will participate in this album and two new members, Shotaro and Sungchan, who will also now be the youngest in the group. Shotaro and Sungchan will also be joining a brand new unit of NCT to be launched shortly. This news made fans even more excited in anticipation of all the plans SM has for NCT. Through the flexible and malleable subunit NCT U, all the 23 members will be combining in new and exciting combinations to deliver the album of a lifetime.

Following this, a timeline and more details about the NCT2020 album were released. The NCT 2020 project will consist of two parts. The full album “NCT 2020: RESONANCE Pt. 1” is scheduled for release on October 12, and “NCT 2020: RESONANCE Pt. 2” will be released after that. Going off of the concept of “empathy” from their 2018 album “EMPATHY,” the concept for this album is going to be “RESONANCE.” Does resonance refer to connecting with others in a manner that creates synergy, and what better way to do that than music?
On September 22, 2020, SMTOWN released YearParty teasers for 2020, amping up the hype for the NCT 2020 album. You can check them out here:
