This Summer, SSAK3, formed by MBC‘s Hangout With Yoo, swept the charts with their summer-friendly songs, and the legends, Lee Hyori, Rain, and Yoo Jae Suk gained much love.
But another band, also named SSAK3, just released a new song after 8 years called “Let’s Go To Hong Kong”, and expressed their disappointment that SSAK3 used their name without giving them all call to ask for permission.
The original SSAK3 shared that they formed the band back in 2012, and named the group SSAK3 to mean that they intended to sweep the charts in Korea.
A representative of the original SSAK3 added,
The band was planning to make a comeback this summer, but as a result of the team formed by MBC’s Hangout With Yoo, they postponed the release until the group finished their activities.

Furthermore, the band’s leader, Lian expressed his disappointment that the other group never called to ask for permission.
We’ve been using our band’s name, SSAK3 since back in 2012. It’s true that we’re disappointed that we never got a single call about the matter from the other group.

Lee Hyori, Rain, and Yoo Jae Suk formed their group name from suggestions given by fans in an online chat.
Their meaning behind the name was also to sweep the music charts with their hit songs.
