When a K-pop celebrity reveals he or she is dating, it’s more often than not with another celebrity. But these idols below shook fans when they disclosed they were dating non-celebrities. Many can’t believe that idols are even open to dating outside of the industry, but these idols proved that love can be found anywhere.

Last June 21, an insider revealed that actor and 2PM member Taecyeon is dating a non-celebrity. The girlfriend is a 29-year-old office worker. The two had been dating for three years now and continued to stay strong even when Taecyeon enlisted.
Fans were divided on the matter, though, with some being supportive of the idol and his relationship, and the others being disappointed in their idol dating behind their backs. With this, Taecyeon issued an apology on his Instagram for surprising and disappointing the fans with the sudden news.
2. EXO’s Chen

Chen made headlines earlier this year when he revealed that not only was he dating his non-celebrity girlfriend, he was engaged with her and his fiancée was pregnant!
The new was revealed by Chen himself through a handwritten letter, which he posted on Lysn. SM Entertainment also confirmed the news, saying Chen had met someone precious to him and that they will be getting married. The two have since been wed, but the location and date of the wedding was kept private to respect the privacy of the bride and her family.
Some fans, however, had felt betrayed by the news, calling Chen “irresponsible” for getting his girlfriend pregnant before marriage. Some even petitioned and did various fan projects to have Chen removed from EXO. Fortunately, tons of EXO-Ls support for the idol nonetheless.

Back in October 2019, Rainbow member Jisook surprised fans when she revealed she is dating Lee Doo Hee, a programmer and businessman. After she revealed the news, Lee Doo Hee was introduced to the Korean public when the couple appeared on MBC’s “Don’t be Jealous.”
The audience fell in love with how sweet the couple was, with many loving how Jisook prepared numerous lunchboxes for Doo Hee. The two have recently revealed that they are planning to get married and are waiting for wedding halls to open, which have been closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2014, Jessica (who was still a Girls’ Generation member at the time) was romantically involved with businessman Tyler Kwon. The two had allegedly met while they were in Hong Kong and he had become a capital investor in Jessica’s fashion brand, Blanc & Eclare. Fans did not react well to the news, with people expressing fears that she would get married and leave the group.
SM Entertainment at that time had denied the claims. When she left the company and joined Coridel Entertainment, Tyler Kwon’s entertainment agency, in 2016, she confirmed that the two were in a relationship. They are still going strong!
