The intense fatherly conflict between Son Hyun-joo and Kim Myung-min is rapidly approaching a dramatic climax.
With just two episodes remaining, Genie TV’s original drama ‘Your Honor’ has blurred the lines between good and evil, thrusting the two fathers—Song Pan-ho (played by Son Hyun-joo) and Kim Kang-heon (played by Kim Myung-min)—into a harrowing dilemma. As the series nears its end, here are the crucial elements to watch for in the final week.
Previously, Kim Kang-heon was shattered by the loss of his family, particularly after his second son was killed in a hit-and-run accident. His relentless quest for vengeance led him to target Song Pan-ho, the presumed culprit. However, just as he was on the brink of taking Song Pan-ho’s life, he was forced to reconsider when he was informed that his eldest son, Kim Sang-hyeok (played by Heo Nam-joon), had confessed to the crime. This twist marked the beginning of a full-scale confrontation between the two men.
Kim Kang-heon has exerted his ruthless power to subdue Song Pan-ho, who has been desperately trying to escape his grasp. Yet, the ultimate choice of Song Pan-ho remains uncertain. Meanwhile, a number of individuals, including prosecutor Kang So-young (played by Jung Eun-chae), detective Jang Chae-rim (played by Park Ji-yeon), dock gang leader Jo Mi-yeon (played by Baek Joo-hee), and even the Blue House, are eager to see Kim Kang-heon fall. Adding to the complexity, Kim Kang-heon discovers that his son’s true killer is not Song Pan-ho, but rather Song Ho-young (played by Kim Do-hoon). The revelation that Kim Sang-hyeok had previously assaulted Song Pan-ho’s wife, leading to her suicide, further complicates matters. This deepens the curiosity about whether Kim Kang-heon will manage to clear his son’s name while maintaining his formidable power.
Judge Song Pan-ho, who once commanded respect, faces total upheaval when his only son, Song Ho-young, is involved in the fatal hit-and-run accident. The victim was the second son of the influential Woowon Group’s chairman, Kim Kang-heon, which meant that Song Pan-ho’s actions could cost him his life, rather than merely facing legal consequences.
To protect his son, Song Pan-ho willingly assumes guilt, abandoning his previously held principles and honor in a desperate bid for survival, only to find Kim Kang-heon’s opposition insurmountable. Matters worsen when Song Pan-ho learns too late that the incident was not a mere accident but a premeditated act of revenge by his son against the Woowon Group, which had previously evaded justice.
Adding to the tension, detective Jang Chae-rim is aware of this truth, and with Kim Kang-heon also discovering that Song Ho-young is the actual perpetrator, Song Pan-ho’s situation becomes even more precarious. All eyes are now on the fates of Song Pan-ho and Song Ho-young, father and son, as they find themselves cornered with nowhere to turn.
In a recent interview with Ten Asia, Son Hyun-joo hinted, “Some viewers might find the ending of ‘Your Honor’ frustrating. The drama explores the absence of clear good and evil. If there’s a season 2, it will delve into the theme of reflection. The key will be whether and how they reflect on their actions.”
The gripping saga of Son Hyun-joo’s survival, Kim Myung-min’s quest for retribution, and the ultimate resolution of this harrowing fatherly showdown will continue in episode 9 of ‘Your Honor,’ airing at 10 p.m. on the 9th, on Genie TV, Genie TV Mobile, and ENA.
