According to media sources on July 29, BTOB’s Changsub has been discharged from the military following his final vacation during the mandatory military service.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, Changsub will no longer be returning to the military base until his final discharge date, which means he has technically been discharged from his post twenty-three days early. Despite that, his status will remain an active-duty soldier throughout his vacation date, which means he will retain his status until August 21, his original discharge date.
Changsub is the second member of BTOB to complete his mandatory military service following Eunkwang. Coincidentally, both members served as members of the ROK army’s music corps. On August 15, 2019, Changsub attracted attention for singing the national anthem at the 74th anniversary of the National Liberation Day celebration at Cheonan Independence Hall.

Eunkwang, on the other hand, was actively promoting his solo album following his discharge from the military. Member Minhyuk is scheduled to be discharged from the army in September of this year. All the members of BTOB must complete their mandatory military service except for Peniel, an American citizen.
Changsub debuted with BTOB in 2012 under CUBE Entertainment as the group’s lead vocalist. BTOB has been raised numerous times for their vocal ability and is known in the K-Pop industry for having the best live vocals. Their vocals are so well praised that the boys received the Singer of the Year Award at the 2015 KBS Music Festival, the Best Vocal Group Award at the 30th Golden Disc Awards, and the Ballad Award at the 25th Seoul Music Festival.

Though the group debuted in 2012, they saw breakthrough success in 2014 with “Beep Beep,” as the song ranked first on the Gaon Album Chart for nine weeks, making it their first album to peak at number one. Shortly after their breakthrough, BTOB signed a contract with a Japanese talent agency, Kiss Entertainment, for their Japanese promotions and soon debuted in Japan with their first Japanese single, “WOW (Japanee version).“
The current active members of BTOB are Eunkwang and Peniel. Changsub is expected to be added to the list due to his early military discharge. Current inactive members include Minhyuk, Hyunsik, Ilhoon, and Sungjae, who have all enlisted in their mandatory military service.
Besides his activities with BTOB, Changsub was the first member of BTOB to debut his solo album, called “bpm 82.5” in Japan. The title track of the album is called “At the End” and was released in 2017. Soon after, the boys did “Piece of BTOB,” which are solo releases from each BTOB member that showcases their talents.
