Singer and actress IU and actor Lee Seo jin have been named as recipients of presidential commendations for paying their taxes faithfully.
They were among 1,072 people chosen as exemplary taxpayers by the National Tax Service on Wednesday.
An annual ceremony to recognize them was canceled this year due to the coronavirus outbreak. IU is quarantining herself following a trip to Milan, Italy recently, as a precautionary measure against transmission of the virus.
Not only have they paid their taxes faithfully, IU and Lee have also been engaged in various charity activities.
As the coronavirus outbreak has spread rapidly recently, IU donated W200 million including 3,000 protective suits for medical staff (US$1=W1,194). Lee also donated W100 million to the Community Chest of Korea last week.
