Jang Nara finds a Good Partner in Nam Ji-hyun

Script reading stills are out for SBS’s legal drama Good Partner, featuring two divorce attorneys with diametrically opposite personalities. One’s a rookie while the other’s a veteran with nearly two decades of experience — though they’re both competent at what they do, they take such different approaches that they inevitably clash. Still, there’s no growth without discomfort, and their conflict will spur them to become truly good partners.
Jang Nara (My Happy Ending) stars as the renowned attorney Cha Eun-kyung, who has 17 years of experience under her belt. Hailed as a “star attorney,” Eun-kyung has earned widespread recognition through her skills, even though her straightforward nature sometimes manifests in a prickly demeanor. While she’s grown adept at handling divorce cases, Eun-kyung soon finds herself at a loss when her own marriage is hit with a crisis — and amidst this time of chaos, her disagreements with the new rookie open the door to a new path.
Said newbie is the righteous Han Yuri, played by Nam Ji-hyun (High Cookie). In contrast to Eun-kyung, who prioritizes the interests of the firm and her clients above all else, Yuri’s strict moral compass won’t let her close one eye to injustice. Any immoral wrongs committed by her clients will chafe at her idealistic beliefs, conflicting with Eun-kyung’s professional pragmatism. Though Yuri’s heart is in the right place, she still has a lot to learn, and Eun-kyung’s guidance will help her come to terms with the gray areas between her black-and-white worldview.
Joining our leading ladies is Kim Joon-han (Anna) as the team leader Jung Woo-jin, who’s also Eun-kyung’s junior. Whenever Eun-kyung’s fuse snaps, the sensible and good-natured Woo-jin acts as the brake that reins her in without a word of complaint. All these years, Woo-jin has supported Eun-kyung by her side while maintaining an appropriate distance, displaying an unwavering sincerity. (Am I the only one having My Happy Ending flashbacks here?)
Rounding out the law firm quartet, we have the optimistic attorney Jeon Eun-ho — played by Pyo Ji-hoon (Mouse) — who champions a “working love balance,” LOL. Eun-ho may seek to maintain the equilibrium between work and his personal life, but the scales soon tip when Yuri joins the law firm. In an effort to prevent Yuri from becoming yet another new recruit that quits quickly, Eun-ho resolves to watch her like a hawk — only for her work ethic to inspire a realization about the true meaning of his career.
As for our supporting cast, Ji Seung-hyun (The Goryeo-Khitan War) plays Kim Ji-sang, Eun-kyung’s husband and a medical consultant at her law firm. Though he’s devoted himself to taking care of Eun-kyung’s wellbeing, he soon grows weary — and his wavering may have something to do with Eun-kyung’s secretary Choi Sara, played by Han Jae-yi (Mask Girl). Sara has been loyal to Eun-kyung for a decade, but she’s driven by equal parts admiration and jealousy, and she’s about to cause upheaval by crossing an irreversible line.
Directed by Kim Ga-ram (Nevertheless) with scripts penned by divorce attorney Choi Yoo-na, Good Partner premieres on July 12.
