Ji Chang-wook doesn’t look it, but he just turned 33 years old over the weekend.
The actor posted a photo of himself holding flowers on his Instagram account thanking his fans for their gifts the day before his birthday. He also posted two certificates showing that his fans donated to the Miral Welfare Foundation in his name. One of those certificates came from Ji Chang-wook Philippines (JCWPH).
Miral Welfare Foundation supports social inclusion of people with disabilities and the most vulnerable people.
“In commemoration of my birthday, many people have such a good heart. You guys are such a wonderful person. Thank you and I love you,” Ji wrote as a caption.
But the donation to the Miral Welfare Foundation is not the only gift JCWPH prepared for him.

They went all out in supporting his latest drama “Backstreet Rookie” by boosting an Instagram ad for 24 hours to promote his latest drama, “Backstreet Rookie.” The ad had a 240,000 audience reaching fans from South Korea, Japan and, of course, the Philippines.
JCWPH, known as a staunch defender of legal streaming, even tied up with iQIYI Philippines to give away 100 VIP subscriptions to lucky winners. Check out their Facebook page to find out how.
Last year, they celebrated Ji’s birthday through a LED ad at the Mall of Asia Globe and Maax Eye. The members had a swimming party in Laguna the next day. Adjustments had to be made this year to adapt to the new normal during the pandemic.
“We had to do it differently and we thought that a lot of people are more focused on phone ads because Ji’s fans are quarantined,” said Anne dela Cruz, admin of JCWPH. The limitations in the movement made them more creative in the execution of their support.
Dela Cruz added that these projects were possible because her fellow admins Angel Ibanez, Stephy Dolor and Karen Garcia and the members of the fanclub made it possible.
The fanclub also sent a coffee truck during the filming of “Melting into You” to show their support for Ji.
“Backstreet Rookie,” also stars Kim Yoo jung. The drama is enjoying a steady rise in local ratings according to AGB Nielsen. Internationally, it is the number one trending show in iQIYI for three straight weeks. The drama is the first Korean original show on the streaming platform.
