tvN is planning a new comedy caper called Stealer: Seven Joseon Coins (roughly translated), and hijinks here we come! With a notorious treasure thief known as “Skunk” on the loose, the natural reaction is to try and catch him/her. But, adding to the action and intrigue, an entity called “Karma” decides to team up with Skunk – even though their organization’s goal is to recover cultural artifacts.
In the lead role, Joo-won (Carter, Alice) is back in dramaland as a government official named Hwang Dae-myung, who is part of the cultural heritage administration. He’s known to be a slacker – even sneaking in naps on the job – and is only a stickler about using all his leave days. Until now he’s enjoyed a relatively quiet work life — but everything is thrown into shambles when he’s suddenly suspected of fraternizing with Skunk.
Lee Joo-woo (Why Her) takes on the role of the elite police officer Choi Min-woo, who has recently been transferred to a unit in the suburbs. Although her new team handles cultural properties, they’re held in low regard, and Min-woo is determined to turn things around for them.
Jo Han-chul’s (The Law Cafe) Jang Tae-in, on the other hand, once headed the violent crimes division on the police force and learned about cultural artifacts by chance. He is now leading a secret project to follow Skunk and is also (or will be) the founder of Karma.
In supporting roles, we have Kim Jae-won (Our Blues) as the fiery and sassy Shin Chang-hoon, who has a strong sense of duty to his job as a police detective as well as to the Karma team. And because every good team needs one, we also have Choi Hwa-jung (Jealousy Incarnate) as Karma’s skilled hacker Lee Choon-ja.
On the production side, PD Choi Joon-bae (Mouse, Come Here and Hug Me) is at the helm with scripts by Shin Kyung-il. tvN’s Stealer is currently being planned to broadcast early next year in 2023.
