Lee Jung-eun insists that she’s Jung Eun-ji in first teaser

It’s party time in JTBC’s new teaser for the fantasy rom-com The Woman Who is Different by Day and Night, dancing the night and… er… day away with our Jekyll-and-Hyde-esque heroine – played by Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day) and Jung Eun-ji (Work Later Drink Now 2).

However, it’s not all fun and games for our leading lady whose daily transformations cause an identity crisis with no easy solution. During the day, she takes on the alias Im Soon (Lee Jung-eun), appearing to be a woman in her 50s. But her real name is Lee Mi-jin (Jung Eun-ji) and she explains to the audience that, “I am in my 20s. I’m actually born in 1996. But I become like this when I wake up after sleeping. I change whenever the sun rises and sets, as if we’re different people.”

In the sequence, we then watch as our heroine – and her parents – are shocked by the first transformation. But as the captions reveal, it’s not just Mi-jin’s age that goes up when she’s Soon. In fact, all of her abilities become enhanced, making her an everyday superwoman who can fight off assailants with her mop and speed away home on her bicycle.

Amusingly, the perfectionist prosecutor Choi Jin-hyuk (Numbers) doesn’t bat an eyelash at Mi-jin’s cleaner dance show. But he’s properly dumbstruck by her speedy one-handed typing as she powers through the office work and he demands to know, “Who are you, exactly?” In the appearing text screens, we’re then told to expect a “Mystery and ‘me’ story rom-com about finding the real me.”

As the teaser closes, we return to that fateful day when Mi-jin first changed and somehow landed at the police station. Desperately, she pleads, “I’m really born in 1996!” and suddenly slaps a police officer, wondering if she’s on a hidden camera prank. We then end as Mi-jin points to a photo of her original self, fervently insisting that she’s the same age.

Helmed by PD Lee Hyung-min (Showtime Begins, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon) with scripts by Park Ji-ha (Good Casting), JTBC’s The Woman Who is Different by Day and Night will be premiering next month on June 15.
