Lee Jun-ho has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming drama Typhoon Company.

Actor Lee Jun-ho is set to return to the small screen in a drama that explores the International Monetary Fund (IMF) foreign exchange crisis.

As reported by Star News on the 23rd, Lee Jun-ho has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming drama Typhoon Company. The series will delve into the challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses and their families during the 1997 IMF crisis. Discussions are ongoing for its broadcast on tvN next year.

Lee Jun-ho will portray Kang Tae-poong, the CEO of Typhoon Company. This character is deeply committed to preserving the company, which his late father cherished as much as family. Throughout the drama, viewers can expect to see Lee Jun-ho depict Kang Tae-poong’s journey toward becoming a “real adult” as he navigates personal growth and frustration under the immense pressures brought on by the IMF crisis.

Regarded as a box office draw in the drama industry, Lee Jun-ho made a notable comeback after completing his mandatory military service in March 2021. He garnered significant acclaim for his role as Lee San in MBC’s The Red Sleeves, which concluded in January of the following year. This performance earned him several prestigious awards, including the Best Actor Award in the Miniseries category at the 2021 MBC Drama Awards, the Best Actor Award in the TV category at the 2022 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, and the Grand Prize (Actor of the Year) at the 2022 Asia Artist Awards.

His subsequent project, JTBC’s King the Land, also achieved commercial success, ranking first in Netflix’s Global TOP 10 Series (Non-English) category when it wrapped up in August of last year. The show’s popularity led to Lee Jun-ho winning the Grand Prize (Actor of the Year) at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards. Currently, he is busy filming the Netflix series Cashero, and his return to the small screen with Typhoon Company has generated buzz about whether he will maintain his box office success.

Typhoon Company is directed by Lee Na-jung, known for her impressive body of work, including Fight for My Way, Love Alarm, Mine, and See You in My 19th Life.
