Disney+ announced that the mystery-horror Light Shop (previously translated as Lighting Store) will be coming to our screens in 2024, bringing together a talented group with Joo Ji-hoon (Jirisan) and Park Bo-young (Daily Dose of Sunshine) headlining the series.
In the latest adaptation from webtoon creator Kangfull’s robust collection of stories, the supernatural drama has Joo Ji-hoon taking on the central role as the owner of the title’s light shop. Mysteriously, the shop serves as a gateway connecting the mortal and spirit realms, causing the lives of both the living and the dead to intersect.
Unfortunately, though, there hasn’t been much released about the other characters in this new drama version, so we don’t yet know who will be playing who from the webtoon – or if there are any newly made or changed characters. The one crumb that has been confirmed is that Seolhyun (Summer Strike) will be playing a suspicious customer.
Presumably, there will be more than one customer and we certainly have a stacked list of cast members to fill out the world of Light Shop, with Bae Sung-woo (Live), Uhm Tae-gu (Hometown), and Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day) co-starring in the series.
Also listed in the long lineup are Kim Min-ha (Pachinko), Park Hyuk-kwon (A Time Called You), and Kim Dae-myung (Hospital Playlist), in addition to Shin Eun-soo (Twinkling Watermelon), Kim Sun-hwa (Three Bold Siblings), and Kim Ki-hae (Duty After School).
On the production side, actor Kim Hee-won (Behind Your Touch) has notably taken the reins in his first project as a drama director, while the original webtoonist Kangfull (Moving) is penning the scripts. Topping off at eight episodes, Light Shop is planning to release later this year on Disney+.
