We finally have a Wednesday-Thursday drama on the horizon for JTBC, with the rom-com No Secrets coming to our screens this May. Starring an announcer Go Kyung-pyo (D.P. 2) who is suddenly unable to lie, overly optimistic show writer Kang Hanna (Red Heart), and failed idol turned trot singer Joo Jong-hyuk (Extraordinary Attorney Woo), production has PD Jang Ji-yeon directing with scripts by Choi Kyung-sun. Also preparing for their budding spring schedule, tvN has lined up The Midnight Romance in Hagwon (previously Graduation), where umbrellas blossom a dreamy love for Jung Ryeo-won (May It Please the Court) and Wie Ha-joon (The Worst of Evil). It’s a signature scene for our PD Ahn Pan-seok (One Spring Night) – not that I’m arguing because pretty – who is working together with writer Park Kyung-hwa. The romance is slated to premiere on May 11, following Queen of Tears in the weekend slot. [MBC]
Speaking of Queen of Tears, Kim Soo-hyun is reviewing offers for his next project and is considering a new black-comedy called Knock Off. With production still in the planning stages, PD Park Hyun-seok (Forest of Secrets 2) is attached to direct. The team is currently busy in discussions to decide on a broadcaster and/or platform. With Beauty and Mr. Romantic now out of the gates, preparations are underway for KBS’s next weekender Iron Family – as in clothing iron – with Kim Jung-hyun (Kokdu: Season of Deity) reportedly cast as the lead. I’m intrigued. Expected to broadcast later this year in September, the family drama has PD Sung Joon-hae (Bravo My Life) at the helm and – say what now – Seo Sook-hyang (Greasy Melo, Jealousy Incarnate) penning the scripts. In other reports, the new spy-romance Polaris is said to have begun filming this week, with Jeon Ji-hyun (Jirisan) and Kang Dong-won (Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman, Magic) headlining the series. With a runtime of eight episodes, the series has the busy PD Kim Hee-won (Queen of Tears) and screenwriter Jung Seo-kyung (Decision to Leave) reuniting after Little Women. [Osen]
ENA released the first script reading stills along with new posters for the upcoming action-comedy Crash. Premiering on May 13 in the Monday-Tuesday slot, our age-old enemy Truck of Doom will soon be quivering in their lane as Lee Min-ki (Behind Your Touch), Kwak Sun-young (Moving), and Heo Sung-tae (Bait) lead the police force against dramaland’s traffic crimes.
