News bites: May 9, 2024

Eye-catching first posters are out for JTBC’s new rom-com My Sweet Mobster (previously The Woman Who Plays), showcasing the once mob boss Uhm Tae-gu (Hometown) who is now living the ~~Barbie~~ clean life, and kids content creator Han Sun-hwa (Work Later, Drink Now 2). Also starring Kwon Yul (Longing for You), the series premieres on June 12, following Frankly Speaking in the Wednesday-Thursday slot. [MBC]

Yoo Yeon-seok (A Bloody Lucky Day) and Chae Soo-bin (The Fabulous) have confirmed casting for MBC’s new series The Number You Have Dialed. Based on a webnovel by the same title, the romance-thriller is currently slated to broadcast this winter, with PD Park Sang-woo (The Forbidden Marriage) at the helm and scripts by Kim Ji-woon (Melancholia, Doctor John) [MBC]
It’s a busy week for JTBC with The Woman Who Is Different by Day and Night also dropping their first promos, revealing an adorable Lee Jung-eun (A Bloody Lucky Day) as our two-bodied heroine who transforms at nightfall into Jung Eun-ji (Work Later Drink Now 2). Airing on weekends starting in June, the fantasy rom-com is penned by Park Ji-ha (Good Casting) with PD Lee Hyung-min (Showtime Begins, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon) directing. [Sports Donga]

With the countdown ticking close to The Midnight Romance in Hagwon’s arrival, tvN released an extended teaser of highlights and it’s nice to finally see some of the supporting cast who star alongside Jung Ryeo-won (May It Please the Court) and Wie Ha-joon (Gyeongseong Creature).
