Yoo Seung-ho (Moonshine) is in talks to headline a new crime-thriller on Wavve, titled Deal (literal translation). Based on an award-winning webtoon, the 8-episode drama is about three friends on an ordinary night out for drinks when everything goes terribly wrong. On the production side, filmmaker Lee Jung-gohn (Not Out) is attached to direct. [Xports News]
Lee Sun-bin (Work Later, Drink Now) is on the casting table for a new spin-off called Super Couple (working title), which is based on the world of Backstreet Rookie. I’m already sold on the wacky premise which has a former secret agent now running a convenience store, where she runs into her chaebol heir ex-boyfriend. With the Backstreet Rookie writer Sohn Geun-joo as the creator, and filmmaker Jung Yong-ki (Return of the Mafia) at the helm, filming for the action rom-com will begin this year once casting has been finalized. In the meantime, we can expect to see Lee Sun-bin in TVING’s Work Later, Drink Now 2, alongside her co-stars Jung Eun-ji (Blind) and Han Sun-hwa (Work Later, Drink Now). As seen in the newest poster, the three friends will be reprising their roles for this new second season and we also got news that Sohn Ho-joon (Was It Love) will be making a special guest appearance. Launching this December, production is being led by the first season’s writer Wie So-young, who is joined this time by PD Park Soo-won (Birthcare Center). [News1, Osen]
Speaking of Sohn Ho-joon, a new poster has dropped for his upcoming drama as well: SBS’s The First Responders. Also starring Kim Rae-won (L.U.C.A.: The Beginning) and Gong Seung-yeon (Bulgasal: Immortal Souls), the action drama premieres in just a few weeks on November 12, following One Dollar Lawyer in the Friday-Saturday slot. The ever busy Yoo Yeon-seok (Narco-Saints) has already lined up his next drama for the latter half of 2023, taking on a dark character in A Very Lucky Day. Directed by PD Pil Kam-sung with scripts co-written by Kim Min-sung and Song Hanna, filming for the webtoon adaptation is currently set to begin early next year. [Star News]
Rising star Yoo In-soo (Alchemy of Souls) has been added to the cast of Netflix’s Daily Dose of Sunshine, joining Park Bo-young (Doom at Your Service), Yeon Woo-jin (Thirty-Nine), Jang Dong-yoon (Search), and Lee Jung-eun (Yonder). Notably, this will be Yoo’s second time working with Park, having made his drama debut on JTBC’s Strong Woman Do Bong-soon as one of the troublemaker students. [Sports Kyung-hyang]
Disney+ released a new poster for their upcoming Revenge of Others, featuring the main cast gathered on the school roof. Starring Shin Ye-eun (Yumi’s Cells 2), Park Solomon (All of Us Are Dead), Seo Ji-hoon (Seasons of Blossoms), and Jung Soo-bin (Juvenile Justice) among others, the mystery-thriller will be coming to our screens on November 9.
