On August 31, Taeyang set the Olympic Hall in Seoul ablaze with his highly anticipated concert, ‘Taeyang 2024 Tour – The Light Year in Seoul,’ marking his return to solo performances after a seven-year hiatus.
Taeyang, radiating with the energy of a blazing sun, opened the show with the words, “I’m finally back home.” The concert kicked off with powerful renditions of ‘Prayer’ and ‘I Will Be There,’ followed by a string of solo hits including ‘Vibe,’ ‘1AM,’ ‘Stay With Me,’ ‘Make Love,’ and ‘Inspiration.’
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude, Taeyang said, “I’m so glad to see everyone who came to my first concert in years. I’ve missed you all so much.” The audience’s enthusiastic response further energized the concert hall.
Reflecting on the long-awaited reunion, Taeyang noted, “It’s been seven years since my last solo concert. I know you’ve waited a long time for me, and I’m so grateful for your patience and support.” He continued, “I’m more nervous today than ever before. I named this tour ‘Light Year’ to symbolize the journey we’ve shared and to showcase many songs you’ve been eager to hear.”
The concert featured a mix of fan favorites and new performances. Taeyang encouraged fans to sing along and dance to familiar tunes, creating an electric atmosphere. Highlights included classics like ‘Look Only At Me,’ ‘Blue,’ ‘Wedding Dress,’ ‘If You,’ ‘Loser,’ ‘Where You At,’ and ‘I Need A Girl.’
Before performing ‘Where You At,’ Taeyang shared a behind-the-scenes story, revealing the challenges of performing the song and his own surprise at the time that has passed. “It’s been 15 years since I last sang this song. Time flies,” he mused.
During the ‘I Need A Girl’ segment, Taeyang delighted fans by coming up to the second-floor seats for an intimate live performance.
A major highlight of the evening was Daesung’s surprise appearance during ‘Fool Only Tears,’ which sent the crowd into a frenzy. The duet with Daesung, followed by performances of Big Bang hits like ‘Bang Bang Bang,’ ‘Fantastic Baby,’ and ‘We Like to Party,’ created a memorable experience. Taeyang and Daesung’s heartfelt collaboration touched both artists, with Taeyang expressing his gratitude for Daesung’s support despite his busy schedule.
Concluding the concert with a medley of hits such as ‘Shoot!,’ ‘Ringa Linga,’ ‘In My Heart,’ ‘Superstar,’ ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips,’ ‘Beautiful,’ ‘Bad Boy,’ and ‘Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter,’ Taeyang captivated the audience with his dynamic performance. He expressed his joy, saying, “It’s been so long since I’ve felt this connected with all of you on stage. I’m incredibly happy.”
