Top 5 Kpop MVs: Not Your Average Summer Hits

This has been a heck of a year so far, music fans, and it’s showing up in the new music I’ve been seeing on my feed lately — lighthearted attitudes contrasted with heavy beats. Read on to see what I’m talking about!

1Team – Ullaeli Kkollaeli

I love the lighthearted vibe of this MV! It’s not completely bubblegum pop — the bass line is too heavy for that — but the MV is, and I’m adoring the contrast.

Treasure – “Boy”

In the vein of not-quite-bubblegum-pop. we have Treasure’s “Boy”. I’m loving the deeper hiphop vibe set off by the bright colors.

Han Seung Woo — “Sacrifice”

I have to give credit where credit is due: MiataMama was the first to discover Han Seung Woo, and what a discovery! His expressive face is so very captivating, and this song is layered and mesmerizing.

SuperM – “100”

SM Entertainment’s collab experiment is back and WE ARE HERE for it! The boys’ performance is feeling much more cohesive now that they’ve spent more time together, and I am convinced that Taemin’s dancing has gone up yet ANOTHER level. The song is a perfect workout anthem – I love it.

Kangdaniel – “Who U Are”

I’m liking the direction Kangdaniel is headed with his music — the heavier tones suit his voice, and I’m loving the styling in this MV.

BONUS TRACK: Wonho – “Losing You”

Can we just agree that Wonho has had a horrible time of it lately? I am so glad he was cleared of all charges, and I’m loving that this song marks his return to the music scene. The shot of him on stage looking out at the sea of lights at a concert — that got me RIGHT in the feels.
