Lee Jae-wook ascends to the top of The Impossible Heir

Disney+ has dropped a trailer for The Impossible Heir featuring its three desperate leads looking ferocious and determined. The crime-suspense drama covers the “revolt of the minor league” as the son of a murderer, a bastard of a chaebol group, and a daughter of a debtor, team up to rise to the top.

Lee Jae-wook (Death’s Game) plays Han Tae-oh, a man who wants to escape. The trailer starts off with a person asking Tae-oh if he made his dad into a murderer, and then his dad calls him from jail, saying how much he missed him. Frazzled, Tae-oh runs to a temple and begs someone to run.

Then comes illegitimate third son Kang In-ha, played by Lee Jun-young (May I Help You). All he wants is recognition, but he remains trapped in his opulent room — his very existence denied by his father, Chairman Choi Jin-ho (See You in My 19th Life).

Finishing our trio, there’s Hong Su-ju (Sweet Home 2) as Na Hye-won whose wish is to go up in life. However, even simple dreams are difficult for Hye-won since her debt-ridden mom ran away to gamble, leaving her behind to deal with the loan sharks.

As Hye-won asks Tae-oh if he hopes to live a different life, the battle to reach the top begins. Strutting in a sharp suit, Tae-oh declares that power isn’t all that since he has something stronger: desperation. Whether Tae-oh will become the key to control Kang-Oh Group, we’ll have to wait and see, but one thing is for sure — their opponents won’t go down without a fight, particularly the group’s second son Lee Ji-hoon (Jinxed at First).

With Hye-won also putting her trust in In-ha, the illegitimate son makes his move and propositions the chairman to acknowledge him as an heir if he saves him. No cost is too small for these three if it means fulfilling their goals, and all eyes turn to the coveted seat at the head of the group. The fight for succession commences, but Tae-oh is confident that In-ha will succeed perfectly.

Written by Choi Won and directed by PD Min Yeon-hong (Insider, Missing: The Other Side), Disney+’s The Impossible Heir is slated for twelve episodes and premieres February 28.
