Taecyeon and Won Ji-ahn bare their necks for KBS’s Heartbeat

Taecyeon and Won Ji-ahn bare their necks for KBS’s Heartbeat

Following a fantastic first teaser, it looks like KBS has gone all-in on using 2PM’s song – because it’s just the best – with Heartbeat as the drama’s English title in the alluring new character posters.

At least for me, the last time K-vampires were this attractive was in 2011, but Taecyeon (Blind) as the campy undead Seon Woo-hyul is fast becoming a favorite. In the new stills, we get treated to a dandefied Woo-hyul while the poster has him swamped in blood red lights, baring his fangs and claws in all their sharpened glory. In the tagline, he laments the fact that he’s never felt his heart beating, having never been human before.

Presumably, though, our vampire will get his next chance when he meets our heroine Won Ji-ahn (if You Wish Upon Me), who plays the icy-hearted human Joo In-hae. There’s certainly plenty of fodder for hijinks with our two leads being fish-out-of-the-water in each other’s worlds, together with their fated co-habitation.

Similarly tinged in red, In-hae’s poster takes the goth up a notch, with Woo-hyul’s manicured hand grasping her by the back of her neck. The ominous tagline reads, “Remember me, by my blood…” leaving me with so many unanswered questions.

Although not yet featured, the drama also stars musical actor Park Kang-hyun (West Side Story), Yoon So-hee (Peng), Go Kyu-pil (Shadow Detective), Kim In-kwon (Kokdu: Season of Deity), and Baek Seo-hoo (Cafe Minamdang) among others.

Premiering June 26 in the Monday-Tuesday slot, production for KBS’s Heartbeat will have directing by PD Lee Hyun-seok (Hello? It’s Me, The King’s Affection) and PD Lee Min-soo (The Stain), with scripts penned by Kim Ha-na and Jung Seung-joo.
