Park Shin-hye and Kim Jae-young have begun to move toward a shared goal.

According to Nielsen Korea, the 9th episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama The Judge From Hell, which aired on October 18, recorded a viewership rating of 11.7% in the metropolitan area and 11.5% nationwide, taking first place across all channels in its time slot and among Friday-Saturday dramas. The peak viewership soared to an impressive 14.2%, with a 2049 viewership rating of 4.2%, also securing first place across all channels and programs. This episode marked the highest viewership rating for a Friday installment of The Judge From Hell so far, raising expectations for continued increases in viewership.

In this episode, the devil Kang Bit-na (Park Shin-hye) and the human Han Da-on (Kim Jae-young) join forces. After having chased and been chased by one another, they now share the common goal of tracking down the serial killer known as J. Their increasingly dangerous relationship, which they cannot seem to abandon, captivated viewers throughout the 80-minute episode.

Earlier, Han Da-on had asked Kang Bit-na to not only kill the serial killer J but to team up with her to catch him first, allowing her to take the final action. Kang Bit-na was moved to tears by Han Da-on’s desperate plea, and the two characters found themselves holding hands as they discovered the body of Kim So-young (Kim Hye-hwa), a victim of the serial killer. This moment confirmed the circumstances leading up to Kim So-young’s death and the identity of the killer.

Following this, Kim So-young’s funeral took place. As rain poured down, Han Da-on wept bitterly, channeling her anger toward the serial killer. Kang Bit-na, observing her, shed tears once more. Another devil, Lee Ah-rong (Kim A-young), who witnessed Kang Bit-na’s unusual emotional state, grew increasingly suspicious of the relationship between Kang Bit-na and Han Da-on. The danger surrounding both characters intensified.

Amidst this turmoil, Kang Bit-na learns that the last person Kim So-young saw before her death was Jung Seon-ho (Choi Dong-goo) and decides to investigate whether he is the serial killer. Consequently, she takes charge of the trial involving Jung Seon-ho, who caused a car accident while under the influence of drugs, putting him to the test. Jung Seon-ho’s subtle reactions during Kang Bit-na’s questioning piqued viewers’ curiosity.

Meanwhile, a new character, Detective Jang (Choi Dae-hoon), also makes an appearance, drawing attention. He approaches Han Da-on to inquire about Kang Bit-na and witnesses Han Da-on deleting CCTV footage that could serve as evidence to protect Kang Bit-na. He then threatens her. The shocking revelation of Detective Jang’s true identity is that he is another devil sent to kill Han Da-on at Lee Ah-rong’s request.

Late at night, the devil Detective Jang confronts Kang Bit-na. Although she is unaware of his true identity, Kang Bit-na regards him with a meaningful smile. The intense tension between Kang Bit-na and Detective Jang heightened the climax of the 9th episode of The Judge From Hell.

Episode 9 delivered a thrilling narrative featuring the alliance of the devil Kang Bit-na and the human Han Da-on in their pursuit of the serial killer J. Additionally, the “crazy relationship” between the two grows more perilous as they become closer, alongside the introduction of the new devil Detective Jang, all of which kept viewers engaged throughout the entire 80 minutes without a dull moment.

Most notably, the episode’s suspenseful ending heightened viewers’ curiosity and anticipation for the next installment. Episode 10 of The Judge From Hell, promising to make 80 minutes feel like just 1 minute with its rapid developments, will air tonight, Saturday, October 19th, at 9:50 PM.
