Top 5 Kpop MVs: Stray Kids in the Spotlight

Much like iKon, Stray Kids is one of those groups that snuck into my favorites list without me realizing it. Come see if I can keep myself to just 5 MVs as I share my favorite Stray Kids songs with you!

My favorites list, Maknae Loves Kpop, keeps growing! You can check it out on Spotify.

Stray Kids have an interesting sound, a unique combination of light-hearted bops and deadly serious songs. I love this duality, and that somehow the group manages to captures both moods effortlessly. It’s hard to believe how polished they are, since the group just debuted in 2018!

“District 9”

This is the first Stray Kids song that drew me in — I loved their gritty tone and layered sound.

“Grow Up”

I remember listening to this not long after a kpop industry loss, and it gave me a lot of comfort. It’s all about staying by each other’s side through the hard times and reminding the listener that everyone falls and makes mistakes as they grow up, but they’re still doing a good job.

“Astronaut”

When I listen to “Astronaut”, I swear happiness just grabs my ears. Love the optimistic message — I can go anywhere and do anything.

“Get Cool”

This is one of my favorite summer bops, even though it came out in a November….

“My Pace”

Love the silly voice at the beginning. Love the message about going my own pace, staying in my lane, doing my thing. When you’re an ahjumma kpop fan, sometimes it gets easy to compare yourself to what you think other kpop fans are like, or other people your age are like, and feeling really out of place. “My Pace” is a great reminder not to compare and just be happy doing my thing.

“Voices”

This goes right along with “My Pace” — all about breaking out of the voices in our head and breaking away from useless thoughts.

“Levanter”

There’s something about the lyrics — I wanna be myself/don’t care — that just pulls at my soul. Add in the layer of deep voices accenting the melody and it’s one of those songs that I can’t ever skip over.

“Boxer”

One of my favorite songs to start my workout with. This video is HILARIOUS — Stray Kids interacting with little kids and small dogs is one of my favorite things to watch.

OK, k-fans, I was able to stop at 8. I think I showed some serious restraint! Are you a STAY? What are your favorite SKZ songs? Drop down in the comments and let me know!

Until the next album drops, I remain —
