Viu and Mediacorp combine forces to amplify​ premium content offerings for viewers across Asia

Viu, a leading pan-regional OTT video service from PCCW Media Group with more than 41 million monthly active users (MAU), and Mediacorp, Singapore’s largest content creator and national media network, today announced a collaboration which will offer Viu-ers access to drama and lifestyle programmes from Mediacorp.    Ms. Virginia Lim, Chief Content Officer, Viu, said, “Viu has established itself to be a leading pan-regional OTT platform engaging our viewers with premium entertainment content made in Asia. We are committed to continually enriching the content experience on our platform, and in recent years we have successfully brought locally produced shows from terrestrial broadcasters to our regional digital viewers. This collaboration with Mediacorp is another example of Viu being the ideal digital platform in the region to showcase the great content produced in Singapore.”    Starting from today, more than 600 hours of curated Mediacorp content will be available to Viu-ers throughout Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. This selection spans scripted and factual titles, from recent Chinese rom-com megahits like My One In A Million (2019) and the social issue-focused dystopian drama A World of Difference (2019); romantic family-friendly titles Happy Prince (2020) and Heart to Heart (2018); psychodramas Doppelganger (2018) and The Driver (2020); seasons three and four of the popular police procedural series C.L.I.F. (2014 – 2016), to All Around You (2020), a youth-centric drama featuring the fresh-faced finalists of Star Search 2019.   English programmes for the picking include Asia Contents Awards 2019 Best Asian Drama winner Faculty (2017), seasons one and two of tech-driven thriller Zero Calling (2014 – 2015), and Food Heroes (2016), CNA’s showcase of Singaporean gastronomic gurus. Content will include English, Bahasa Melayu, Traditional Chinese and Thai subtitles on an as-available basis.  Ms. Doreen Neo, Chief Content Officer, Mediacorp, said, “Partnering with Viu will extend the reach and recognition of our content to a wider regional audience, and attests to the universal appeal and storytelling strength of Mediacorp productions. We are excited to introduce our proudly ‘made in Singapore’ content to new audiences across Asia.”   The Mediacorp content offerings are now available on the Viu mobile app, which can be downloaded for free on App Store, Google Play, and selected smart TVs; as well as on the web at www.viu.com.  Source: K-Music Insider
