Top 5 Kpop MVs: The Boys Are Back

I’ve been saving some of these videos in my back pocket, because NOW is the perfect time to celebrate all the comebacks we can look forward to this summer, including SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids. But first come let your heart sigh to BTS’ “We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal”. Read on. You’ll see what I mean.

Have you checked out the Maknae Works Out playlist on Spotify? You should — it’s guaranteed to get your heart pumping!

BTS – “We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal”

One of the things that drew me into kpop was the connection between artists and their fans, and how much it was celebrated. Words cannot express how much I love this video! This is a love letter to BTS’ past, but also to ARMY. Iconic scenes from their MVs are represented, but dominating the MV is the feeling of banding together, both as BTS and as BTS+ARMY. I’m not sure I could love this group any more than I do!!

SEVENTEEN – “My My”

I’m loving the summer night feel of this MV — it’s perfect for this time of year! I’m also loving how relaxed SEVENTEEN looks in this video. As an ahjumma kpop fan, I always worry about the artists, since I have a pretty good idea of how difficult the idol life must be. But it looks like being acquired by BigHit has been a good thing for the group, and it makes me happy.

Stray Kids – “Top”

Apparently there are quite a few versions of “Top” floating around out there, and I LOVE THEM ALL. Stray Kids never disappoint, and I’m excited for their first full album release! (In case you’re curious, the member with the “missing eyebrows” is Felix. Why are his eyebrows missing? I don’t know. I’m just here for his voice.)

WayV – “Turn Back Time”

The concept photos for WayV’s comeback have been captivating — post-apocalyptic buildings and members with eye-catching accessories like wings or chains. The whole MV is full of rich detail, and the song is full of attention-grabbing harmonies and strong beats. It’s a visual and auditory treat!

Ha Sung Woon – “Get Ready”

Shifting gears into bop mode, we have “Get Ready” from Wanna One’s Ha Sung Woon. I love the shift in colors — they’re summery without being overly bright, and the whole song has a party vibe to it. It’s perfect!
