What to Look Forward to “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”

Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji had their first script-reading on May 8 for their upcoming series “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.” 

A lot of people are looking forward to this drama because this is Kim Soo Hyun’s first after serving in the military. The actor gained international fame after starring in “My Love From the Star.” He also made cameos in popular dramas such as “Hotel del Luna” and “Crash Landing On You.” 

Kim Soo hyun plays Moon Gang-tae while Seo Ye Ji plays Go Moon-young.

What is the story about?

Netflix vice president for Korean content Kim Min Young excitedly talked about this drama during a video conference with the Philippine media.  

“It’s about an unusual romance between two people who ends up healing each other’s emotions and psychological wounds.  It’s about Moon Gang-tae  who works in a psychiatric ward,” she said. “He doesn’t have anything to enjoy in life only.  He only has responsibilities.”

Gang-tae takes care of his older brother Sang-tae (Oh Jung-se) who has autism. He meets  Moon-young, a children’s book author, in the ward.  

“But Moon-young is a little bit of an antisocial.  They find love in each other.  It’s a show that we are all very excited about,” Kim Min Young said. “A lot of Korean fan content fans and his fans are very excited about the show.” 

Who is part of the production team?

The series is directed by Park Shin woo who also directed the series “Encounter,” “Jealousy Incarnate,” and “Hyde Jekyll, Me.” The screenplay was written by Jo Yong who also wrote “After the Rain” and “Jugglers.” 

Who is the leading lady?

Seo Ye ji played Princess Sook-myung in “Hwarang”: The Poet Warrior Youth.”  She is one of the three talents that the newly founded agency Gold Medalist have.  The other two is Kim Soo hyun and Kim Sae ron.  

When will it stream?

It will be aired on tvN on June 2020. Netflix will stream the drama worldwide.
