Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s picture perfect Family

Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s picture perfect Family

A cute new teaser has arrived for tvN’s upcoming Family, making me even more impatient for April when Jang Hyuk (Red Heart) and Jang Nara (Sell Your Haunted House) will be back on our screens in their fourth project together.

The comedy has the two playing married couple Kwon Do-hoon (Jang Hyuk) and Kang Yura (Jang Nara), who are happily in love, but are each hiding secrets. Do-hoon, to start, is not an office worker like everyone thinks and has been sworn to secrecy as a government black ops agent.

Yura’s secret has not yet been revealed, but we are told that she’s always wanted a perfect family and she’s determined to preserve her dream now that it’s been realized. But her mission won’t be easy if the teaser is anything to go by, and I am ready for the hijinks with this far from ordinary family.

The video begins with close-ups of Do-hoon and Yura giving knowing looks, followed by our head patriarch and Do-hoon’s father Lee Soon-jae (Behind Every Star). The intermittent text screens are read together by Do-hoon and Yura, saying, “No one can can stand in the way of these people.”

We then transition to our story’s main family, dressed in light neutrals for a family portrait. Do-hoon stands with Yura and their young daughter Shin Soo-ah. Woong-soo (Lee Soon-jae) is seated in the front and Do-hoon’s brother Kim Kang-min (The Golden Spoon) stands behind, together with his wife Yoon Sang-jung (Shooting Stars).

But when the group smiles for the photo, the screen suddenly goes black and Yura gives the cue. With flashing colored lights, our family re-appears decked in black suits and hilariously begins dancing towards the camera. The teaser then closes on the title card as we hear Yura’s voiceover: “Family premieres April 17.”

Written by Jung Yoo-sun (That Man, Oh Soo) and co-directed by PD Jang Jung-do and PD Lee Jung-mok, tvN’s Family is slated for April 17, following Our Blooming Youth in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
